Support available for switching from gas to electric cooking
ACT homeowners can use the ACT Government’s Sustainable Household Scheme to help cover the cost of moving from gas cooking to efficient electric options like induction or ceramic cooktops.
Low-interest ACT Government loans
Eligible households can apply for a low-interest loan of $2,000 to $15,000, currently at 3% interest, with up to 10 years to repay and no upfront fees.
Can include supply and installation
The Scheme can be used for electric stove tops and related installation costs, which may include electrical work needed to make the new system safe and compliant, subject to the program guidelines and loan approval.
Supports gas-to-electric upgrades
Upgrading from a gas cooktop to an efficient electric option is one of the recognised ways the Scheme helps households improve efficiency and reduce emissions as part of a broader move away from gas.
