Cheaper Home Batteries Program
From July 1 2025, the new Cheaper Home Batteries Program will offer an upfront rebate to cut battery installation costs by around 30%. It’s uncapped, applies to homes, businesses, and community sites, and can be combined with state rebates.
- Up to $330 per usable kWh in savings (e.g. ~$3,300 off a 10 kWh battery)
- Batteries must be CEC-approved, VPP-capable & installed by an accredited installer
- Systems installed now may qualify, just don’t switch them on before July 1
- One rebate per property

Over time, dust, debris, moss and lichen, and bird droppings can accumulate on solar panels, which significantly decreases the panel's ability to absorb light from the sun, so it is recommended to have your panels cleaned roughly once every 12 months.

*FREE Solar Health Check valued at $198 includes a comprehensive system report that details any important safety, or performance which includes: details of any relevant changes to the installation standards since the install date of your system, installation faults that may have occurred since installation, damage to panels or equipment (such as hail or environmental damage) outside of normal wear and tear, condition of wiring and enclosures and any other safety or performance issues, such as dust/dirt, or lichen build up on the surface of the panels. This offer ends 31 October 2023. What’s not included: Parts and labour in the event of a fault being detected. Payment: On completion of work. Important information: You must be present at the time of appointment to provide access. Appointment times are 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday except for public holidays and weather permitting.

Small Scale Technology Certificates
From 1 May 2026, adjustments to the solar battery rebate will change how many Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) battery systems can create. This update keeps the upfront discount at around 30% while reflecting falling battery costs over time.
- Discount remains around 30% for small, medium, and large battery systems
- STC factor will decline more frequently (every 6 months)
- STC factor will decline at a higher rate over time
- STC factor now tapers based on usable battery capacity:
- 0–14 kWh: 100% STC factor applied
- 14–28 kWh: 60% STC factor applied
- 28–50 kWh: 15% STC factor applied
